With international plane tickets getting cheaper every day, more Australian travellers are choosing to spend their holidays abroad. Many of the international travellers I meet in Australia claim they have seen more of the Aussie continent in just a few months than many of the locals have seen in their lifetime, and they might be on to something. When I mentioned to a few friends that I was thinking of travelling to West Oz for my next trip, over Bali, Thailand or Greece, I got a few puzzled looks. “Why?”.
Well, I managed to convince a few mates to join me and we set off to the other side of the country in search of red sandy landscapes and a kangaroo or two. We were in for a pleasant surprise. A month later, I returned home with a few thousand photos and a new front-runner in my list of Australia’s most spectacular states. For a glimpse into the real Australia, there’s nothing like WA.
